Enterprise Radio UK Ltd is a not-for-proft, social enterprise, and was formed to develop a full time radio service, initially for isolated communities in the U.K.

Areas of Activity

Enterprise Radio, through partnership working, will target initiatives that benefit the communities which Enterprise Radio serves.

The types of assistance include:

* Community support and investment
*   Development of inclusive programmes for education, skills, training and life-long learning
*   Linking training to real job opportunities
*   Environmental improvement programmes
*   Financial and business planning for social enterprise businesses
*   Facilitating stakeholder engagement, including community consultation and engagement
*   Providing procurement advice
*   Accessing external funding for community regeneration schemes.

Sabras Radio is regarded by many in the industry as the pioneer of Asian radio in the UK.

The first broadcasts undertaken by the Sabras team were in 1976 with a local BBC radio station. Subsequently, and for many years, Sabras operated within the GWR Group, before becoming totally independent by winning its own licence in 1994 to broadcast on 1260AM.

It enjoys the largest average listening hours of any commercial station in the UK and is listened to by an estimated 80% of its target audience in the region.

Leicester’s Polish Community

As the Polish community in Leicester continues to grow, a Polish woman from the city talks about moving to England, what she’s left behind in Poland and the community website she’s helped to build.

More than 15,000 users of the social networking site Facebook were tested using a sample version of the Home Office’s citizenship exam. The results show that Polish users gained the highest average score.
