Director of Keep Young & Be-You-tiful, Claire Orbell, will be supporting International Women’s Day on Friday March 8 by attending the ‘Bring a Bra’ event at the Innovation Centre in Market Harborough.
Claire will be hosting the Keep Young & Be-You-tiful stall to raise awareness of her brand new gentle exercise DVD suitable for older adults, anyone new to exercise and those with mobility problems.
Local entrepreneur Jacqui Tillyard is hosting the Bring a Bra event working with Oxfam to raise awareness for women who run businesses in third world countries.
Claire Orbell said: ” As a new businesswoman myself the event is a perfect opportunity to support fellow businesswomen locally and in other countries and Oxfam, while having the opportunity to promote Keep Young and Be-You-tiful. I think it’s important that local things can also support global issues. The idea of Keep Young and Be-You-tiful is that doing a little can make a big difference and I think this fits with the day. The simple act of women donating a bra to Oxfam becomes both a powerful message and generates resources.”
The ‘Bring a Bra’ event will help one such social enterprise currently supported by Oxfam is the Frip Ethique project in Senegal, where women there purchase good quality bras from Oxfam in the UK to retail on local markets in Senegal. Bras from the UK are in hot demand over there.
The cost to get in the event is a Bra, preferably a new one or one that was a ’sale bargain’ , or even an unwanted gift. If not why not purchase one locally before you come along. There may be bras for sale on the day.
All underwear will then be donated to Oxfam who will send it on to the women in Senegal to benefit their business.
Claire says: ‘the Keep Young and Be-You-tiful exercise dvd is easy to follow, can be performed either seated or standing and has a choice of three ability levels so there really are no excuses! Most of us know we should be improving our fitness and health but it can be daunting and expensive to go to a gym or exercise group. This programme is suitable for those who may never have tried a fitness dvd before. With Mother’s Day approaching it is a good alternative present to flowers and chocolates!”
Claire continues: “ There are lots of women with quite serious conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems that can be improved by regular practice of the right exercises – as long as they check with their doctors.”
