Has Richard III left you wanting to know more about history
Has Richard III left you wanting to know more about history?
Youngsters fascinated by the unfolding story of Richard III can grab a handle on history as part of a week-long programme of half-term activities being run by Leicestershire County Council.
Events lined up in the county this weekend and all next week include a fun event based around the Horrible Histories series as well as a chance for children to have a go at medieval sports and games.
Saturday, February 23 is also confirmed as the rescheduled date for Coal Play, the spectacular light and sound show at Snibston which had to be postponed last month because of the weather.
The nationally-important colliery building will be illuminated in a similar fashion to Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Councillor Dave Houseman, lead member for adults and communities, said: “There has been a terrific interest in the confirmation that the bones found in Leicester are those of Richard III and it is likely to attract a new young audience. We have a packed programme during half-term and there is plenty of variety for all the family.”
