Half-term Fun with Vista!
Local sight loss charity Vista will be hosting a range of fun activities for visually impaired children and young adults this week to mark the half-term holidays.
Activities include a ‘Beauty and Fashion Day’, organised in partnership with Debenhams department store in Leicester, where young people can take part in make-up demonstrations and be advised about this season’s fashion trends.
The Beauty and Fashion Day will take place on Wednesday (February 13th) from 2pm to 4pm.
There will also be a Football Fun Day for youngsters with sight-loss, which is taking place at Beaumont Leys School between 10am and 2pm on Thursday (February 14th) when the special guests will be Rendall Munroe, who has recently agreed to become an Official Ambassador of Vista, and Leicester City legend and Official Club Ambassador, Alan Birchenall MBE.
Also taking place this week, for those with a head for heights, is an indoor climbing challenge at Leicester Leys Leisure Centre on Friday (February 15th) from 10.30am until 12.45pm. These activities have all been made possible by funding from Children in Need and are designed to create opportunities for children and young people to develop independence, confidence, make new friends and have lots of fun.
A representative for Vista’s Children’s and Young Peoples Services said, “We are delighted to be able to offer such a packed programme of diverse activities for the half-term holidays. We hope that the young people who take, part take away with them a greater confidence in their abilities and enjoyment of life. We would like to thank our partners and funders for making this possible.”
Vista will also be hosting another event with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association during half-term, aimed at young people. This will take place between 10am and 12pm on Tuesday February 12th at the Vista Resource Centre on Margaret Road, off Gwendolen Road in Leicester, LE5 5FU.
Just like a similar event that took place at the charity in December, presentations will be delivered by Vista and the Guide Dogs Association about the services and support that both organisations provide for local people with sight loss, with the latest equipment that aids blind and partially sighted people also on display.
Based on Margaret Road in Leicester, Vista is dedicated to improving the lives of people with sight loss in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Every year Vista provides services, support, advice and information to almost 6000 registered blind and partially sighted local people. To book a place or to find out more information about Vista’s services for visually impaired people please call 0116 249 8839.
