People will be able to find out more about how Government changes to the benefits system will affect them.
The Government is introducing a range of benefit changes this year, and Leicester City Council is running an open event telling people how the changes might affect them.
The changes due to come into effect include bedroom tax, a benefits cap, the replacement of Council Tax Benefit with a local scheme, changes to the Social Fund, and the national roll out of Universal Credit, as well as a series of other welfare benefit changes.
Leicester City Council’s revenues and benefit service is running an open event at the BRITE Centre, Braunstone Avenue, LE3 1LE, on Monday, February 18. Two sessions will take place – from 10.30am to 1pm, and again from 2pm to 4.30pm.
An earlier event on Tuesday, February 12, at Leicester Adult Education Centre, is already fully booked.
Visitors will be offered practical advice on planning, budgeting and making the most of he help available. There will also be opportunities throughout the day to ask questions, discuss ideas and get valuable information to help prepare for welfare reform.
