Community Media Training School Opens

The new Community Media Training School operated by Citizens Eye has opened today.

After a long search for suitable premises, the first floor of Apex House on Charles Street was chosen to establish the long planned training school.

An ‘open’ newsroom will operate on the first floor every Tuesday between 1-4pm and potential volunteers are welcome to attend to find out course details including ‘free’ taster workshops.

Simon Parker, editor of Citizens Eye said: “this training school has been planned for a while now so to see it come to life is real progress for Citizens Eye.”

A new training brochure is currently under development. It will be available to view online and in hard copy from Apex House reception.

The Community News Café that operates every Tuesday 9.30-10.30am at the Coffee Republic on Granby Street, will continue to be the first port of call for anyone interested in volunteering as a Community Reporter.
