Funny Bones Seminar Looks at Disability Issues in Comedy

 

A public seminar that will be chaired by Dr Geoff Rowe, Director, Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival

There has been a huge increase in the profile of disability and disability awareness recently. This discussion seminar explores what this means for the comedy industry, and the experiences and aspirations of comedians and audiences.

Contributors will include:  Jack Carroll (teenage comedian and winner of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain 2012) Sharon Lockyer (academic and ‘Disability and Comedy’ project leader) Dan McKee (comedian and compere) Margaret Montgomerie (academic and author of:Screen Discourses of Disability: Dodgy Discourse and the Moral Low Ground) Liam O’Carroll (actor, radio broadcaster and member of Abnormally Funny People) Caroline Parker (comedian, actress and member of Abnormally Funny People)
