The latest edition of The Rough Sleeper is now available.
The Rough Sleeper has been created by editor, Tony Evans, to draw attention to the subject of homelessness. As Tony says:” to represent those who are unrepresented in our society, to gain the attention of people of compassion for the cause of the homeless. The Rough Sleeper is a bi-monthly newspaper that hopes in time to encourage a viewpoint that will change that.”
Issue 4 is a Homeless Strategy Special.
It includes a powerful article by Rough Sleeper editor, Tony Evans, called ‘Tough Times Ahead and Nobody From the Council Wants to Talk About It’.
Tony says in the article:
” Since the council produced and published their Homeless Strategy and Draft Delivery Proposals, just about everybody has suddenly found their voice and wants to be heard. That is, everybody but the city council.”
“What is obvious is that there hasn’t been enough grass roots consultation and that decisions regarding what to cut is as a result of statistical evidence than factual reality. The need for further debate and discussion is obvious but pointless if those who are responsible for making the decisions, city councillors, don’t make the effort to join in open debate, then when those decisions are made they will be one sided.”
“ The Rough Sleeper intends to hold a Speakout 2 and the invitations to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and or, those involved in the decision making will be made once again.”
Seek out a copy of The Rough Sleeper for the full article.
A limited number of copies are available from the Citizens Eye News Room on the ground floor of Apex House, 74-76, Charles Street and a copy will be held for reference there.
