A local police officer and police volunteer from Mansfield House police station, in the city centre, have donated £600 to Rainbows Hospice for children and young people.

The cheque for £600 pounds was handed to Jennifer Leach, the community fund raiser for Rainbows, today (Thursday January 10).

Jennifer said “I am very happy to receive this cheque it all helps keep our doors open. We need to raise 4.2 million pounds every year to keep the hospice open. We look after children from birth up to 30 years of age and care for the whole family unit. It’s nice for families as they can get some respite care and talk to our staff. I can’t thank the officers and staff enough.”

PC Nita Ravat raised £433 from the sale of samosas to police staff in the building over the last year. She said “I just wanted to do something for charity and this is a great one to support as they rely totally on contributions.”

Hayley Peacher, a police volunteer, raised £167.00 from running in the Leicester half marathon. She said “It was my first marathon which I completed in 2 hours and 12 minutes and since doing the marathon I now run 10k every morning at 5am.”
