From Martin Gage:
Preparations are well advanced for the launch in January 2013 of a major joint agency campaign on food and hunger.
The campaign brings together Oxfam, Save the Children, Unicef and many other organisations as well as ourselves. We are coming together because, despite there being enough food in the world to feed everyone, nearly one billion people go to bed hungry every night and over two million children die from malnutrition annually.
Only with urgent action to address the root causes of hunger can we reverse these statistics. The campaign will be launched nationally on Wednesday 23rd January 2013 in London, Cardiff, Belfast and Glasgow.
To complement these national launches we are holding a series of regional media launches across the country and we are therefore writing to ask you to join us at our region’s launch: 10am Friday 25th January 2013Outside Leicester Cathedral, Peacock Lane, LeicesterSupporters, lobbyists and local people holding campaign banner.
We envisage the event lasting no longer than 30 minutes. As well as inviting the region’s MPs we are also inviting the MEPs, church leaders, representatives of each of the supporting agencies and local supporters.
