The winners of the 2012 Leicester and Leicestershire Tourism Excellence
Awards have been announced at a ceremony held at Leicester Tigers’
Welford Road Stadium on 29 November 2012.
The winners included:
* Access for All Tourism Award – Hinckley Island Hotel
* Bed & Breakfast / Guest Accommodation of the Year – Horseshoe
Cottage Farm
* Business Tourism Award – Leicester Tigers
* Large Hotel of the Year – Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport
* Large Visitor Attraction of the Year – Curve
* Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year – Dandelion Hideaway
* Small Hotel of the Year – Hotel Maiyango
* Small Visitor Attraction of the Year – Charnwood Museum
* Taste of England Awards – Hotel Maiyango
* Tourism Experience of the Year – Melton Mowbray Victorian Fayre
* Tourism Pub of the Year – Red Lion Wine Pub
Established by Leicester Shire Promotions, the awards celebrate the
excellent visitor experience that the wide range of local visitor
attractions, accommodation providers, restaurants and events offer to
ensure visitors have the best possible stay in Leicester and
Leicestershire. All winners will now be considered for national acclaim
at the finals of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in 2013.
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, said: “Our

categories were strongly contested and this shows the range and quality
of tourism businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire. The value of
tourism in the city and county grew again last year and through their
