Volunteers Needed for Prebend Gardens Clean Up Scheme

Volunteers Needed for Prebend Gardens Clean Up Scheme thumbnail

A weekly scheme to help transform and clean up a city park is on the lookout for more volunteers.

Local residents, along with staff and residents of the nearby Dawn Centre hostel, have joined forces with Leicester City Council’s parks services to tackle littering, dog mess and overgrown shrubbery at Prebend Gardens off London Road.

The Park Force volunteer group has already made improvements to the pond, cleared up litter, cleared a flower bed in the sundial garden, cut back shrubbery and repainted the perimeter fence.

Organisers are on the lookout for more volunteers, particularly local residents, to come forward and take part in the weekly makeover sessions.

Between now and Christmas work will involve clearing fallen leaves and improving the soil in the sundial garden beds, as well as more painting and shrubbery work.

Anyone wanting to volunteer with the Park Force group, or get more information, should contact Vicky Hudson at Leicester City Council’s park services on 0116 229 3637.
