The Social Fund; ways forward? – An event in Leicester with Child Poverty Action Group
You or colleagues might be interested in event we are hosting with the Child Poverty Action Group on the localisation of the Social Fund.
The Welfare Reform Act means that the discretionary Social Fund will be abolished, and the money previously invested in Community Care Grants and Crisis Loans will be devolved to Local Authority level, with Local Authorities made responsible for delivering provision in this area.
This workshop will explore options and barriers for Local Authorities and their partners in delivering a localised Social Fund. The workshop will include presentations about the elements of the social fund that are being localised, as well as presentations for Local Authorities and partners about various options they are considering (speakers TBC).
It will also provide plenty of room for discussion about key aspects that need to be considered, including;- Client Groups and eligibility- Community Care Grant Provision- Crisis Loan Provision and- Dealing with Disputes.
This event will be held on Friday 22 June, 11am-1pm at Leicester Town Hall.
