On Saturday 25th February two of the UK’s leading experts on green roofs, Dusty
Gedge and John Little will be running a DIY Green Roof workshop at Brocks Hill
Environment Centre, Oadby.
Cover a roof with soil and plants and you have a green roof. Do this to a shed, outhouse, garage, or small roof extension and you will have a wildlife habitat that also provides rainwater management, a cooling energy conservation system and an option to have a garden in a seemingly unfeasible situation. Green roofs are also recognized as having a positive effect on reducing the urban heat island effect in cities.
The day will include the design, construction and theory of small scale green roofs and there will be a practical workshop to make a mini green roof that participants will be able to take home with them. A free DIY guide will also be available.
Costs start at £50. For further information please contact Kay Snowdon on 07913630291 or email kaysnowdon@yahoo.co.uk
