Leicester Council of Faiths Open Meeting with City Mayor

Leicester Council of Faiths Open Meeting with City Mayor thumbnail
From George Ballentyne:
Leicester Council of Faiths has been working for 25 years to promote trust, understanding and cooperation among the city’s faith communities. Much of this has taken place quietly and effectively behind the scenes, but recently we’ve enjoyed a higher public profile, reaching out to cooperate with the various religions, cultures and traditions of Leicester, with the Voluntary and Community Sector, with students and teachers, with those promoting the regeneration of the city through public service or private enterprise – with members of the public, whatever their religion or belief.
In 2012 we hope to be working even more openly and inclusively, focusing the distinctive and diverse strengths of the city’s faith communities on matters of common interest to the people of Leicester.
We’re delighted that the City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby is helping us launch this new series of meetings by accepting our invitation to be guest speaker for this first one. You’ll see the content of the meeting on the attached file, but the main points are:
Date & time: Tuesday 31 January 2012, 6 – 8 p.m.
Venue: Gur Panth Parkash Gurdwara, Ashford Road (off Welford Road), Leicester LE2 6AA
Everyone is welcome to this meeting. Since food will be available for attendees between 6:10 and 6:45, we’d appreciate it if you’d let us know whether you’re coming.
If you have any queries or comments about this event, please respond to this email address.
Warmest regards
George M Ballentyne
