Local Comedian Performs at Comedy Festival

Local Comedian Performs at Comedy Festival thumbnail

Local comedian Kirsty Munro is set to perform, not one, but 3 shows in this year’s Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival. The Festival is close to Kirsty’s heart as it was during last year’s comedy festival that she first took to the stage to perform stand up.  Fast forward to a later, Kirsty is back with her Edinburgh Fringe Preview Show ‘Dirty 30’, a cabaret sketch show ‘Lovely laughs’ and compering a new act competition ‘Battle of the Sexes – Girls Vs Boys’.

It has been a busy year on the comedy circuit for Kirsty, beating 10 other acts to win ‘Comedy Cashback’ a new act competition in March and taking her debut stand up comedy show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer. She has since teamed up with a comedy collective of local actors and comedians to produce comedy sketch cabaret shows under the moniker Firm Hand Shake. Kirsty has also launched a competition for new acts – ‘Battle of the Sexes – Girls Vs Boys’, audiences can expect riotous banter and shameless point scoring as teams compete for the title.

‘Lovely Laughs’ promises to be full of juicy jokes and scandalous sketches revealing the ups and downs of love. Kirsty will be performing with comedian Mike Leo Brown, ‘Mentalist’ Steve Travis and comedy actors Gareth Dunn and Allan Smith. The show followed by karaoke after party will be held in the fabulous new basement venue ‘The Cookie Jar’ at ‘The Crumblin’ Cookie’ on Weds 8th Feb, a hidden gem of a venue on Leicester’s High Street and winner of Best Venue in 2011.

Catch Kirsty’s solo show in the double bill alongside American comic Kate McCabe on Monday 13th Feb ‘Double Mint – Munro & McCabe’ at The Looking Glass, a cocktail bar on Braunstone Gate. Kirsty reveals her take on approaching the daunting age of 30 in her Edinburgh Fringe Preview ‘Dirty 30’.

Come and vote for the team of new comedians who make you laugh the most in a stand up comedy showdown – ‘Battle of the Sexes – Girls Vs Boys’ at The Interlude on Thurs 16th Feb, on Eastern Boulevard near De Montfort Uni. Kirsty will be compering the night and whipping the audience into a frenzy as the competition heats up.

Don’t miss this chance to see one of the most promising young comedians currently on the comedy circuit. Best book early, as these events sell out fast.
