The first of four talks will take place on Saturday 28 January from 2pm. The talk will be led by Neil Finn, from the University of Leicester’s archaeology team, and will focus on the history of Leicester Castle and its significance.
From 2pm on Saturday 25 February, East Midlands historian and author David Bell will be on hand to talk about some of the most notorious crimes in Leicestershire’s history that were tried at the castle. Then, on Saturday 31 March at 2pm, Neil Finn from the University of Leicester will return for a talk about Leicester during the Civil War period, including the pivotal events that took place around the Newarke area of Leicester.
To conclude, on Saturday 28 April at 2pm, Amanda Leedham will discuss the changing styles, symbolism and meaning of some of Leicester’s most fascinating churchyard memorials, including the nearby St Mary de Castro.
