A report detailing the findings of the Adult Social Care and Health Scrutiny Commission’s review into proposals to change elderly persons’ residential services is now available online.
The report details the commission’s recommendations following a review of the consultation options for the future of eight city council run residential elderly persons’ homes.
Cllr Paul Westley, chair of the Adult Social Care and Housing Commission and report author, said: “We have gathered and considered a wide range of evidence, and involved members of the public at all stages of this review, and it is the overwhelming view of this scrutiny commission that all eight city council-run elderly persons homes should remain open and continue to be run by Leicester City Council.”
The report will be available in a draft version and people will be given until Friday, November 25th to comment on the recommendations. The final report will be passed to cabinet for consideration.
Cllr Mohammed Dawood, Assistant City Mayor responsible for adult social care and housing, said: “It is right that scrutiny review these proposals. It is important that people realise that these are not the recommendations of cabinet and that no decision has yet been reached. The scrutiny commission’s final report will, however, be considered as part of our decision making process.”
