Officers run for relief

Officers from the council’s Sports on Parks team are putting their running shoes on and taking part in a 2km run around Abbey Park to raise money for Sport Relief 2010.

The event starts at 1pm from the main car park on Friday March 19 and while only six people have enrolled so far, sport on parks officer, Gina Ward, is certain many people will join in on the day.

She said: “We are all a sporty bunch and most of us are doing something for sport relief at home, so thought we should do something at work too.

“If anyone fancies giving it a go they don’t have to run as some people are going to walk the route.”

All the money raised by Sport Relief is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

For more information on Sport Relief visit www.sportrelief.com or come and support the runners on the day.
