PEOPLE can find out more about children’s health and behavioural problems by attending two city talks next week.
Whether you’re a young person who wants to understand more about why you behave in a certain way or a parent or guardian who wants to learn more about challenging behaviour, the sessions will aim to answer all your questions. They will also cover everything from childhood ailments to what immunisations youngsters should receive. ‘ABC of Children’s Health’ will be presented by Olive Rollings and Dorothy Sebuliba, both primary mental health workers for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
The first session will take place on Wednesday March 10 at St Peter’s Church Hall, Woodshawe Rise, Braunstone Park, Leicester. The free talk will start at 6pm and run until 8pm. The presentation will be interactive and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions.
The second of the talks will take place on Wednesday March 17 at the Peepul Centre on Orchardson Avenue from 6pm until 8pm.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s Chief Executive Antony Sheehan, said: “We know it can be isolating being a parent of a child with behavioural problems and these sessions aim to break the stigma and get people talking about the issue. This is a great chance for local people to ask questions about the challenges faced by parents with children who have behavioural difficulties.”
Cath Pritchard, public health consultant at NHS Leicester City, said: “It’s really important we give people in the opportunity to ask questions about subjects such as children’s health and well being. One aspect of this is behavioural difficulties and so these talks aim to support young people, parents or carers by helping them address this issue.”
These talks are part of a 12 part series planned for 2010 which will be delivered jointly by NHS Leicester City and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. They have been organised by both organisation’s engagement teams who work to get more people involved in how local health services are planned and developed.
