DMU Post-Grad Journos

Editor: Citizens’ Eye evolves on a day to day basis and this one is rather exciting. When we held our Community Media Awards back in November last year I was taking a short course at DMU’s Leicester Centre for Journalism.

I mentioned to the course tutor, John Dilley about the awards evening and the whole post-grad group were given the opportunity to interview a few of our volunteer Citizen Reporters and volunteer editors. It was a great experience for all involved and led to the creation of a superb news magazine.

We have now taken this a whole step further with the 4 groups of reporters – West Leics, The Chronicle2, Beaumont Journal and Highfields Inquirer – all looking to post their weekly news feed directly on to the Citizens Eye home page.

I hope in some small way, this helps them gain experience that these dynamic young journalists need to break into the media sector and our regular site visitors enjoy their reporting skills.

Who knows….maybe one day you will recognise a name in a national or international piece and think…hang on! ……
