THOUSANDS of health and social care staff across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have had their swine flu jab with clinics still ongoing.
Since the vaccination programme for eligible, frontline health and social care staff began four weeks ago, more than 4,500 staff have taken advantage of the jab.
Frontline staff are both at increased risk of catching and of passing on the swine flu virus so it is important they are vaccinated to protect those they care for.
Karen Tiller speaking on behalf of the NHS in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, said: “We are encouraged by the amount of eligible staff taking up the swine flu vaccine and clinics are still ongoing.
“Health and social care staff are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated as they have a duty to protect themselves and vulnerable patients and members of the public who are at risk of developing complications should they contract the virus. Our providers have been doing a superb job of rolling out the programme and any frontline member of staff who wants to be vaccinated should contact their line manager for details.”
