The newly-formed Performing Arts Leicester partnership has been successful with a £40,000 grant for leadership and skills development from the national Cultural Leadership Programme.
The Performing Arts Leicester partnership is now looking for organisations promoting or creating professional dance, theatre or music to become members and benefit from the leadership programme. ‘This could be venues, festivals, promoters or education providers’ said Clare Hudson, Creative Industries Manager at Creative Leicestershire, who is part of the PAL strategy group.
‘Our focus in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland will be on quality and diversity in the performing arts sector. We need leaders who represent the diversity of our population and who have the skills to work effectively in this high risk sector and we want this funding to help us create that new pool of leaders.’
A Performing Arts Network meeting is being hosted by Curve, Rutland St, Leicester LE1 1SB this Wednesday 25 November at 6pm for anyone working in the sector. ‘We’ll be promoting membership of PAL and explaining the leadership scheme. We’ll also will have speakers from Leicester College talking about their new National Skills Academy status plus time for networking and discussion.’ said Clare Hudson.
