Interviews Available during Final Countdown to the Food Festival…
In the final build up to Leicester’s First Food Festival at Leicester Market on Sunday 22nd November 2009, several key players are available for interview this week.

Celebrity Chef Rachel Green is appearing at the Festival and is available for interview to preview the event on Thursday.

Rachel will be displaying her passion for British food with entertaining cookery demonstrations during the day and is enthusiastic about appearing at Leicester’s First Food Festival:

“Leicester really is at the centre of the country in terms of natural produce. As a chef and a farmer, I definitely believe in using fresh local produce and I think if people don’t use local food then they will lose it.”

Nick Rhodes, Head of Markets for Leicester, is available for interview either leading up to the Festival or on the day of the event.

As is Joe Harkin, Market Development Manager and Event Organiser for the Market.

If you would like to speak to Nick or Joe this week, or arrange to interview them on Sunday, please contact Soar Media.

If you would like to talk to Rachel Green about the upcoming Food Festival, please contact Sue at Kenyon Communications on 01673 828764.

At the food festival, shoppers will be encouraged to take their taste buds on a culinary world tour, sampling and buying food from all over the globe.  A huge section will be dedicated to Asian cuisine as well as ingredients and recipes from other regions, particularly Afro- Caribbean and African cuisine.

As well as the chance to shop, visitors can view food presentations by experts, take part in some great family based competitions and watch local entertainers and performers.

The event coincides with the switch on of the Christmas Lights nearby at the Town Hall, between 4pm and 5pm. There is also a large-scale Christmas Craft Fair from 10am to 3pm in the city centre.

An audience of 20,000 people from the East Midlands are estimated to attend the festival.

Leicester Market, which was awarded the title of Britain’s favourite market earlier this year, offers a traditional market atmosphere with over three hundred stalls. There is a vast array of food available with over one hundred stalls selling fresh produce ranging from traditional fruit and vegetables, to ethnic herbs and spices every day.
