Two De Montfort University (DMU) graduates are to become big fish in a big bowl, after they were selected to make a ’splash’ in the business world as part of an exciting new reality web project.

Owain Griffiths and Dominic Shaw are the entrepreneurs behind Leicester-based Head & Griffiths. The company, which produce bespoke designer suits sold online, has become part of an interactive new website that provides a unique platform for business start-ups to learn from the experience of others.

Business in a Fish Bowl is a concept which profiles the trials and tribulations of three start-up businesses – think Big Brother for the business world! Filmed through different stages and broadcast via www.inafishbowl.co.uk, viewers can learn the lessons of starting a business through observing others in a similar situation.

Griffiths, who gained support for Head & Griffiths from DMU’s Enterprise Inc programme for start-ups, is excited about becoming part of the concept. He commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Head & Griffiths. The Business in a Fishbowl concept is a brilliant way to provide motivation and empathy to start-ups by helping them to learn the lessons of business at an early stage.

We’re thrilled to be a part of something so unique and we’re really excited about the awareness this might bring too.”

Joining Head & Griffiths in the fishbowl is Matt Stockman, who runs a unique online record label and band management business, and Rico Mexican Kitchen which produces a range of authentic, home cooked Mexican food products. Over time each business will receive advice from celebrity entrepreneurs, business experts and members of the public.

Founder of Business in a Fishbowl, Toby Reid commented: “This is a great initiative for new business start-ups as they get to learn through other people’s experiences on the website.

Everyone involved in the project has started their own business, so we know the difficulties involved in the process.

“We all share the view ‘if only I knew then what I know now!’ The service is designed to provide empathy, learning and motivation to others in a similar position. Head & Griffiths is still very much a start-up business but its future is bright. This is going to be a very interesting time for them.”
