Community Development Worker for Black and Age Concern Minority Ethnic Communities in Mental Health

Salary £21,258 pro rata per annum
Hours 29.5 per week (over 5 days to include Friday morning)

We are seeking to appoint a Community Development Worker to work with local Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Communities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to improve inequalities in mental health.

This job will also have an element of working with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

You will be required to facilitate the provision of and access of services to BME groups; work and support health professionals, local organisations, service providers and BME groups within this field.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with a good understanding of minority groups and the barriers and discrimination that surround mental health. You should also be able to work under your own initiative and manage your workload efficiently.

The post holder will be expected to travel within the County to fulfil this role. Post holder must have full use of a car. Contract runs to the end of March 2011. An enhanced CRB check applies to this post.
