Swine flu symptoms continue to be unpleasant but mild for most healthy people but for pregnant women and those with health problems they can be more severe.

The swine flu vaccine will be delivered to GP surgeries shortly and those who are eligible to receive the vaccine are advised to book their appointment as soon as they are invited by their GP.

The vaccine is the best way to protect against swine flu and to reduce the risk of passing it to others.

You should have the vaccine if you are six months of age or above and:

  • you have a long-term health condition such as chronic lung, heart, kidney or liver disease
  • you are pregnant (the vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy)
  • your immune system is compromised because of a disease or treatment for a disease
  • you live in the same house as someone whose immune system is compromised.

The attached leaflet provides more information about the vaccine. This will be available in different languages and formats in due course.

The poster can be printed out for display in your own premises.

The initial paragraph of text will be replaced with: HIV/AIDS Sufferers
Swine flu symptoms continue to be generally mild for most healthy people but for those who have a weakened immune system due to diseases such as AIDS and HIV they can be more serious. The swine flu vaccine will be delivered to GP surgeries shortly and those who are eligible to receive the vaccine are advised to book their appointment as soon as they are invited by their GP.

It is also particularly important that if you live in the same house as someone with a weakened immune system that you are vaccinated to prevent passing infection onto them.
