Refugee Week Update – July 2009

Refugee Week Update – July 2009 thumbnail

Here we are again – it’s July. We can hardly believe another Refugee Week has passed by – and this one was a real whirlwind of action!

So, we at the central team are now preparing to put the kettle on, lie back and wait till next year.

Not really.

We’re starting the evaluation process of this year’s Refugee Week and so far we’ve found that:

* Over 6000 Simple Acts were completed;
* Over 400 educational, fun, quirky and downright weird events were hosted across the UK.
* The number of people using the Refugee Week website has doubled since last year;
* We’ve had a pretty successful year of media coverage. (Here’s a little sample of some of the coverage received: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/refugee-week)

This is just the beginning of the process and we hope that everyone who took part in Refugee Week this year will send us their feedback. We will use your feedback to create a picture of the overall impact of Refugee Week accross the UK and to improve what we do in the future.

Your feedback is needed

Have you organised a Refugee Week event in 2009? If so, please could you take a moment to answer this short survey about your Refugee Week event?

http://tinyurl.com/RefugeeWeek2009

We have created this short survey in order to collect views and comments of those involved in organising Refugee Week events this year. The gathered information will be used to create an evaluation of the overall impact of Refugee Week in 2009, as well as to inform the future work of the Refugee Week Central Team, including our provision of support, advice, promotional and informational materials etc.

We would appreciate your comments before Friday 14 August 2009.

Simple Acts of planning
We’re also looking through all the images and stories of your Simple Acts that have been sent in to us (thanks for that), and adding them to the Simple Acts website.

We’ll be continually hunting down more recipes, stories, films etc to keep adding to the site. We’d love for the site to become the place you go to to find new resources and ideas. Do let us know about any resources you think should be included by emailing us at info@refugeeweek.org.uk

But mostly, we’ll be scheming up ways to expand the reach and profile of the Simple Acts campaign into 2010, including creating a promotional film and viral.
