A Journey on foot

A Journey on foot thumbnail

Two members of staff from Refugee Action Leicester are making a journey which all asylum seekers across Leicester have to make every month, and some every week – the trip to Loughborough reporting centre and back, but they are going to do it on foot.

Most asylum seekers are able to take a bus, but as even those who are completely destitute (no financial support, no accommodation, not allowed to work) are still expected to make the journey walking to Loughborough and back is not unheard of – and as Dr Les Ashton highlighted as part of his presentation at our AGM earlier this week, this journey by foot was made by a 60 year old man recently, who then had to walk to the surgery to get treatment for his very painful feet …

Please donate if you can, if everyone who reads this gave a few pounds imagine what difference that could make to an asylum seeker with nothing …
