Crest of a WAVE

Crest of a WAVE thumbnail

Tidal waves and Tsunamis. These create the picture of an overwhelming mass of water and energy, which forces its way around and through any obstacle.

This is my vision for Wave, except the 60th wall of water will be replaced with voices; words and pictures form the hearts and minds of Leicester’s Young people, which will sweep the people of our great city off their feet.

Wave, Leicester’s newspaper by young people is unique. The paper itself will be written, edited and organised by young people, but there will be a variety of up-to-date features, articles and reviews that will tickle everyone’s fancy.

I feel that as the editor of Wave, this paper must be active and engaging, giving young people not only the opportunity to be young journalists, but opportunities to be involved in workshops and events that you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

During the summer we have access to a radio station for a month, meaning you may be able to try your hand at presenting! We have various contacts with students studying degrees in film, broadcasting and media, along with visits to other papers to see how they work.

You will be able to collect your copy of Wave from any of the 18 libraries situated across the city for FREE every month. We already have the support of Leicester City Council and One Leicester and we hope to have you support too.

Contributing to Wave can only happen on one condition. You must be a young person under the age of 21. This will enable you to write, review, photograph, or interview anyone or anything. I look forward to hearing from you!

Wave’s headquarters are based in Leicester’s Learning & Information Library, so you can pop in or e-mail editor@citizenseye.org for further information.
