Older People taking ‘direct action’

Older People taking ‘direct action’ thumbnail

The streets of Leicester were grid locked today by a small group of older people who resorted to ‘direct action’ to get their views heard.

They feel the Government pays lip service when it states it hears that older people are unhappy with the level of pension support today. As one of the protesters states in the short film below, their grievances have gone unheard for years.

This form of protest can generate good publicity and all the main news channels were there. Many will remember the fuel protests whose effects were felt nationally and even to this day largely played down.

For those that know Leicester, the traffic was disrupted all the way to John Lewis.

The general public generally appeared to be supportive of their action.
