Councillor Vacancy for Uplands Ward in Oadby
Councillor Doctor Syed Rizvi, a member for the Oadby Uplands Ward of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, has resigned from the Council.
An election is being held to fill the vacancy and polling will take place on Thursday, 31st July 2008, if the election is contested.
A notice of election will be published on Thursday 26th June. Nomination papers must be returned to the Returning Officer at the Council Offices by noon on Friday 4th July. The new elected Councillor will serve on the Council for the term until May 2011.
Councillor Dr Rizvi was elected to the Council as a Liberal Democrat, at the elections held in May 2007. His resignation from the Council is as a result of him moving away to take up a professorship of an American university in Dubai.
