Migraine Action Association Relocates To Leicester
Posted on 05 April 2008 by John Coster
The Migraine Action Association, a national charity organisation, has relocated from Corby to new offices on East Street in Leicester city centre as part of its expansion plans.
The Migraine Action Association is an independent registered charity focused on providing unbiased information on all aspects of migraine, its causes, diagnosis and treatment to its 10,000 members throughout the UK. The move will create six new jobs, will provide a base for the charity’s administration staff and will support its initiative to raise awareness of its work to the wider ethnic population.
Invest Leicestershire - the official inward investment agency for Leicester and Leicestershire - helped to support this move by preparing numerous property solutions, organising site visits to view prospective offices and introducing the charity to appropriate partners from both the public and private sectors.
Lee Tomkins, Director of the Migraine Action Association said: “We were looking to relocate our organisation from the existing base in Corby and initially targeted Market Harborough or Leicester city centre as possible locations because of their excellent railway links. Following property searches and site visits organised by Invest Leicestershire, we selected Leicester for our new offices and see the city as an ideal location from which to spread our message to all sections of the population. We are hoping to start creating links with many areas of the Leicester community - although we are a national charity, we want to really serve the Leicester community as a first priority.”
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions commented: “As the £3 billion programme of regeneration in Leicester continues, prime office space is increasingly available for businesses looking to relocate to a thriving destination. We are delighted that the Migraine Action Association has chosen to relocate to Leicester and join the growing number of organisations investing in the city.”
Kishor Tailor, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Economic Partnership (LSEP) added: “LSEP is delighted that a major charity has chosen to relocate to the sub-region. They now join over 70 UK associations and institutes who have made Leicester their home. Joint Partnership arrangements are now in place to offer support to organisations like the Migraine Action Association so that vacancies can be filled by suitably qualified local people.”
